Eagle Vision

I always get so excited when I see an eagle flying by. Yesterday he flew right towards my window, and then past me. As he was looking at me, it made me think about what I am looking at.

Eagle eyes can see objects up to 5k away and can keep their focus on their prey until it is caught. They can also see almost a full circle around them, so they get a full view of their territory. They can also see a fuller spectrum of colors than we can, and can see ultraviolet light that our eyes cannot perceive.

Eagle vision reminds us to look at the big picture while focusing on the important details. For me, this means being clear about what I’m focusing on. I think I’ve been letting myself get too distracted. Like the eagle focuses on its prey, I want to focus on my prayer. I want to rededicate myself to my sacred practices (prayer, journeying, meditation, writing, sitting in nature) so I can strengthen my connection to the Divine. That way everything that I look at will be filtered through the light of that connection. Then my eagle eyes will be able to see the light present in every situation, even if it’s not visible to my human eyes.

Thank you, thank you Eagle, for visiting and sharing the gift of your vision with me.

Blessing of Eagle Vision

May you be blessed with eagle vision.

May you see the full picture, from all sides of an issue.

May you focus on the important things and not be sidetracked by distracting details.

May you relish the colorful spectrum of life.

May you look deeper to see the light present in every situation, even when it’s not first apparent.

May you use the eagle’s power of focus and clarity of sight to see the world in a way that will bless you in achieving your goals.

As the eagle’s vision blesses you, may you use it to bless the world.

(Please excuse the blurry photo. Ha my phone camera was not using its eagle eyes. It was a rush shot before he flew away.)
